Brief

Yo Love It is a vibrant and playful ice cream shop designed to delight the senses. The space will be a joyful, modern destination that reflects the brand’s fun and energetic personality. It should be visually engaging, instantly memorable, and create an immersive experience that draws in locals and tourists alike.

Design Intent

The design intent is to craft a bright, contemporary environment bursting with color and whimsical details. At the heart of the shop is a sleek counterfront, highlighted by a custom LED-lit drip feature that glows like melting ice cream — a playful, signature touch that embodies the brand’s identity. The space should be lively, fun, and interactive, leaving visitors with a lasting impression that mirrors the joy of the treats served.

Project Background & Objectives

The main object was the bring the playful and joyful identity of Yo Love It to life through the design. Some key objectives include:

  • Create a space that delights customers visually and experientially, encouraging social sharing and repeat visits.
  • Ensure a smooth operational layout for both staff and customers, balancing efficiency with visual impact.
  • Use materials and finishes that are long-lasting, easy to maintain, and environmentally conscious.
  • Accommodate high foot traffic and seasonal or promotional displays without compromising design intent.

Design Intent Studio provided full documentation across all stages, from initial design brief through to final construction drawings.

Scope of Works

  • Mood boards, color palette, material selection, and playful detailing concepts.
  • Plans, elevations, and 3D visuals capturing the brand’s vibrant identity.
  • Custom Corian counters, seating, display units, and lighting.
  • Layered lighting with LED highlights, task lighting, and ambient glow to enhance the playful atmosphere.

Design Approach

The design approach combines a feature-driven focal point with the glowing counter drip, a vibrant palette of bold colors and bright whites, and contrasting materials and textures, creating a playful, modern, and sensory-rich environment.

Key Design Features & Material Strategy

Front counter design and drip feature

Product: Corian Stonique

  • Inspired by the look of melting ice cream, the illuminated “drips” flow down the sleek Corian counterfront, creating a sense of movement and fun. The soft, glowing light highlights the contours of the design, adding depth and visual interest while tying perfectly into the shop’s colourful, whimsical theme. It’s a bold yet refined detail that captures the essence of Yo Love It—creative, vibrant, and irresistibly sweet.
  • Forms the central counterfront and frame for the frozen yogurt machine, offering a seamless, durable surface that’s visually striking and easy to clean.

3D Feature walls

Product: Custom cut 3d panels, painted in pop colours
Custom 3D panels are used to add depth and texture to the walls, creating a visually engaging and tactile experience that enhances the playful, modern atmosphere of the shop.

Bright Pop Colours

Product: Dulux Paints- Colours: Mint, Lemon Delicious, Prom
Fun pastel pops of color are used throughout the yoghurt store to create a cheerful, playful atmosphere that reflects the brand’s joyful personality and delights customers of all ages.

Timber Look Joinery

Product: Laminex – Victorian Ash
The natural timber finish brings warmth and texture in contrast to the brighter finishes.

LED Feature Lighting

Integrated throughout the space, particularly in the drip effect at the counterfront, LEDs create a playful glow, highlight key design features, and reinforce the vibrant, joyful character of the shop.

Additional Notes

Design documentation included full drawing sets, FF&E schedules, and coordination with consultants as defined in the agreed scope. Intellectual property retained by Design Intent Studio.
